Mt Wheeler Power History
Mt. Wheeler Power was incorporated in 1963 by local citizens who wanted to bring central station electricity to parts of Nevada and Utah that were commonly known as "One of America's Last Great Power Deserts." In 1970, their goal was realized as the cooperative started operations and began providing steady, low-cost power to White Pine County; parts of Elko, Eureka, and Nye counties in Nevada; and Western parts of Tooele, Juab and Millard County in Utah.
Since then, the cooperative has grown and diversified over the past 50 years.
